Why Every Guy Should Have A Female Best Friend

Because it is possible for guys and girls to really just be friends.

                                              1. She can help you understand women better

Just kidding. Women don't even understand women. However, she can offer helpful advice and give you insight on how women talk to each other when guys aren't around.  Having that platonic female friend is also great because she can give you tips and tricks on how women like to be treated, since we all know that men treat women differently than they treat other men.  Naturally, everyone is different and that doesn't mean you need to change to impress someone if they can't accept you for who you are.

 2. She can introduce you to her single friends and help you check out potential girlfriends as well as give you her opinion about girls who could be messing with you.

Let's be honest. Girls usually appear hotter and more intimidating when they're in a large group. They know it and you know it too because that's exactly how you feel when you're with your boys. It all comes down to strength in numbers. However, when you take away those large groups and have your friend introduce you to one of her friends, you can get to know them on a one-on-one basis which is heaps better than trying to talk to her with her group of girlfriends around. Another benefit is that if you tell a new girl friend about your female best friend, you'll see whether or not they can handle it without getting jealous or insecure. If your new girl can't handle it, she's not girlfriend material.

                3. She can be your  go-to date so that you don't end up taking a pineapple
Going as just friends is great and there are no feelings attached when you're dancing or getting drinks with other friends. It's good to know you have a friend who can be your plus one to events. You'll already look good together and neither of you will get mad if the other decides to Netflix and chill with someone else.

4. She can give you advice and open up a platform for you to be vulnerable without you feeling like you're getting judged for it (like your guy friends may do without even realizing)

Girls generally talk all the time. That's part of the reason why it's nice to talk to them because usually they come up with conversation topics. This comes in handy when you need advice as your best friend can give you advice on anything; fashion, girls and anything else as she'll always be wanting to share her opinion. Any women you date is going to want you to show a bit of vulnerability. Your girl best friend can be a lifesaver as just talking to her will teach you how to let your guard down and teach you to be okay with doing so at the same time.

            5. Being friends with her will teach you how to really just be friends with a girl.

Sure, feelings may get involved. However, it's important to know how to be friends with a girl because its totally different than having a guy friend. She may be your best friend, but she doesn't always want to be treated like a guy.  Although you two may laugh at dirty jokes together and hang out in a way that couples do without the emotions, as long as neither of you are objectifying the other then it's all great. After all, it's perfectly okay to appreciate being in the presence of a gorgeous girl, even if she is your best friend.

Until next time,

Traveling & Travel Life Hacks!

Hello everyone! Today's post is going to be about traveling essentials and life hacks for a fun trip, no matter if you're going by plane or car! I've recently come back from Belgium myself, so I figured this might be a good time to post another travel update. Keep in mind that everything is just a suggestion and you can add or change whatever you like.

Disclaimer: All text and opinions are my own but none of the photos are mine.

Traveling Basics
1.  Roll your clothes instead of packing.
You'll make the most out of the space you have and be able to fit in other necessities. Plus, it's great for when you return with new things that you might have bought.

2. . Make sure you have what you need.
Nothing more, nothing less. Do your research about the weather, check that you have important
documents such as a passport/visa and travel letters if you're a minor. Double check before you leave for your journey - you don't want to get to your destination and realize you've forgotten something important.

3.  Make copies of important documents
Scan passports, IDs and your itinerary. This will be very useful in case you lose them or
in case of theft.  Backups are important, even during the times when you don't think so.

4. Don't spend all of your money on an expensive place
This is a great tip to learn as soon as possible. While expensive places are great to stay at, wouldn't it be much nicer spending your money on gifts, souvenirs and experiences than living in a five star hotel but not having enough money to truly experience the location you're staying at?
Websites like AirBnB  provide homes and locations to stay at which you can rent out.
Speaking from experience, they're more affordable and usually nicer than hotels.

5. Call your credit card/debit card company before you leave
Let them know the places where you'll be staying at so that they don't suspect suspicious activity in a foreign location.

Follow the local's lead
They usually know the best places to go. Remember that what is advertised in the place you're going to is done so by people who are experts in tourism. Think of the saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans" and you'll find yourself saving money, seeing beautiful things that weren't in brochures and eating amazing foods that don't burn your wallet and yet still fill up your plate.

Skincare Essentials
1. Eye cream.
If you aren't using an eye cream, now may be a good time to start. Eye creams prevent under eye circles  and premature wrinkles. Normal body cream isn't enough as eye cream is specially formulated for the thin skin around your eyes. Just a little extra TLC.
My recommendation: Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream

2. Water
To stay hydrated of course! I can't stress this enough as you're constantly moving and using energy.
My recommendation: This gorgeous water bottle is this one from Nike which tells you how much water you have left to drink for the day. This is the one that I have, but they are available in other colours!

3. Body Lotion/Body Butter
To keep your body moisturized. Extra points if your lotion contains coconut oil, aloe vera or shea butter!
My recommendation: The Vaseline Cocoa Body Butter.

It doesn't matter where you're going or what you're doing, you better have sun screen with you at all times to protect your skin from harsh uv  rays.
My recommendation: Nivea Moisturizing Sun Screen

Life Hacks for Traveling by Plane
Mark your luggage as 'fragile' if you're traveling by plane.
This ensures that all of your things are handled carefully and that when you open your luggage, everything will still be in one piece.

Bring your own water bottle
It's super important to stay hydrated during flights and when you're traveling in general. Sometimes airlines make you pay for water but often you get free bottles during your flight. Take your water bottle and fill it up each time so you always have enough water with you.

Bring a pen with you
This will be useful when filling in custom's forms as flight attendants often don't have them.

Go to the bathroom twenty minutes before the plane is expected to land.
It'll save you from having to wait in long lines in the airport.

Use ATMs to get the local currency
The cash converters often come with their own fees and often take more of your money than what is necessary. You pay more for the money that you want by giving up most of the money that you have.

Locate a shopping mall / local grocery store when you arrive
This is great because you can stock up on basics like water, bread and snacks asap. Buying local is often a lot cheaper.

Life Hacks for Traveling by Car/Road Trips

Make a playlist
Got to have some killer tunes to jam to in between naps, traffic and the sound of your family or friends getting annoyed at your song choices.

Bring food with you
I'm talking snacks. If you can, bring a car cooler with you to keep items such as drinks or fruit. You will get hungry and you will be tempted to stop along the way, but that can only make your journey longer. However, it's always good to stop for a quick coffee break!

Take breaks, but make sure they're not too long.
Ten minutes max. Make sure to get what you need, like water, coffee or so. Take a bathroom break and stretch your legs to get your blood circulating.

Bring earphones, a book and a portable phone charger.
If you have a charging phone case, even better. You will get bored and when the playlist starts to repeat itself, at least you can occupy yourself. If you're one of those people who can't read in a car, perhaps get a motion sickness bracelet. I know places like Walmart and Amazon sell them.

Bring a large plastic bag with you for rubbish
So you avoid having to clean the whole car when you arrive.

Pack pillows and blankets
Depending on how long your journey is, you may wanna get comfortable!
Small blankets or comforters are always a good idea because you may get cold throughout the drive.

Take a screenshot of directions from your Google Maps (if you don't have a GPS) while you still have wifi connection.
This will definitely come in handy.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Review: Victoria's Secret 'Love Spell' Collection!

'Love Spell' Body Set by Victoria's Secret

Disclaimer: All opinions, purchases* , products and photos are my own unless otherwise stated.
This body set was a birthday gift from a friend.*

Today's post is all about one of my favourite products from Victoria's Secret (VS). I use this body set religiously as I love the scent and how soft my skin feels. All three products work great separately, but for a scent that is super long-lasting, I'd recommend using all three products together. Keep in mind that each product's scent is already very strong on its own, so using all three together may be overwhelming. My travel collection is 125ml while the other is 250ml.
                                            'Love Spell' Body Mist
Left: Normal size (250ml)
Right: Travel size in (125ml)
The Product: I generally love using body mists and this one is no exception. It is light, refreshing and contains traces of Aloe Vera and Chamomile. This incredible body mist smells like cherry blossom and peach (as does the whole collection). As usual, VS has added a touch of sexiness to it because although the body mist has a sweet scent, there is also a hint of spice. It smells fruity and is very refreshing. On its own, it has a great staying power. A suggestion would be to spray it on wrists, behind ears and inside elbows (like you would a perfume). What I love about these products are that, because they're travel sized, they're easy to take with you and the packaging is gorgeous. Sets are generally also more affordable.
The Packaging: The body mist comes in a sturdy plastic purple bottle with a gold lid, clear applicator and a gold label.

'Love Spell' Travel Sized Body Wash
Love Spell Body Wash (125ml)
The Product: I apply this using a loofah and then I lather it. Once in contact with water, this body wash becomes extremely soapy which I personally love as it gives me the feeling of being squeaky clean. An added bonus is that your skin feels incredibly hydrated after your shower/bath.
The Packaging: The body wash comes in a dark purple plastic bottle which contains 125ml of the product. It also has the gold label and lid like the body mist. I love the packaging as I think it's super cute and although it comes in a plastic bottle it doesn't look inexpensive.

                                'Love Spell' Body Lotion
Left: Normal size (250ml)
Right: Travel (125ml)
The Product: Whenever I use this body lotion, I use it after the body wash and sometimes avoid using the body mist along with it as it can become overwhelming. The actual product is incredibly hydrating and leaves my skin silky smooth. The skin absorbs it quickly and the body lotion contains nourishing ingredients such as Aloe Vera and extracts of oat and grapeseed.
The Packaging: Like the body wash and lotion, the packaging is also in a sturdy plastic bottle. This one is a sort of white-purple ombre effect and has purple flowers on the front that match the rest of the containers.

Along with the Victoria's Secret store bag, it also came with a cheetah print makeup bag which I love! I'm not a big fan of animal print but I love the gold lettering of Victoria's Secret's name in front of the bag.

Victoria's Secret Travel Size Collection (125ml) and medium sized makeup bag

Another thing that I love about this bag is the studs on the zipper. It's extra detailing that makes the makeup bag look prettier.

I've always loved Victoria's Secret and am currently building my skincare and beauty collection, so make sure to stay tuned for a whole bunch of reviews and hauls.

Traveling Adventures: Museums, Shopping & Sightseeing in Antwerp!

                             Belgium Bound
Over these past two days, I visited Antwerp with friends. Although I did have fun, it was mostly a field trip as our school has this system where we get to visit a different country for a few days every year in what is known as Trip Week. The usual countries  we get to visit are London, France, Holland or Belgium. This year, I got to visit Antwerp along with the eleventh graders. The journey started off with us meeting in the school cafeteria for a quick run-down of basic school rules that people were inevitably going to break, as well as having our chaperones introduced to us. After our luggage was loaded, everyone got on the bus and we began our mini road trip to Antwerp.
We stayed at a gorgeous hostel called Pulcinella Youth Hostel, and the location was great because it was located in the city which gave us access to stores, restaurants and a really interesting sights and artworks.

Hostel vibes

                                                               Silvius Brabo
When we first arrived, we took photos at a statue in the center of the town, called Silvius Brabo who, as legend has it, was a Roman soldier who killed a giant that asked people for money if they wanted to cross the bridge over the river. If they wouldn't pay, or if they couldn't pay, he would cut off their hand. This is where 'Antwerpen' supposedly came from as it translates to 'hand throwing'.

                                 Cathedral of Our Lady
The group then visited the Cathedral of Our Lady, a Roman Catholic cathedral, and also a land mark of the city. It was absolutely beautiful and took over two hundred years to build. For those of who have been there or who know about it, you can tell why it took so long. The detailing is absolutely extraordinary and the cathedral is fairly big. It is large and white with light shining in through the stained glass windows which lights up the whole cathedral and casts almost some kind of glow across the whole room.  Pictured below, you can see that from left to right is the outside of the cathedral and the inside showing the stained glass windows and intricate detailing on the ceiling.

                                    8 Hours of Free Time
Simply put, my friends and I have a thing for alleys as there are always cool things to discover or a chilled place to hang out in if we're bored. When we found this gem in Antwerp, it was no exception.

Entrance to alley

The walls and doors of people who lived there were covered in graffiti by so many talented street artists, it was insane so of course we had to take a few photos.

It reads, 'Welcome To Heaven'

Sad Boys activated

After we left the alley, we headed to a shopping center and wandered around in a few stores before we headed out for dinner.

After a few minutes of begging our chaperones, we got to shop at Forever 21 and Bershka (Clothing Haul coming soon)

Because you can't go to Belgium and not have a beer.

                               The Red Star Line Museum
Poster of the Red Star Line
The Red Star Line Museum is a museum dedicated to the three million people who emigrated from their home countries to America using a historically famous shipping line. It was incredibly interesting to read their stories and see how different our lives are. One of the things that shocked me was reading about how the people had to shower for an hour while their clothes were thrown in disinfectant as the officials were worried about diseases and infections being brought into their country.
Reading stories of the history behind the Red Star Line
Photo and film room that showed the history through visual art and media forms.

Overall, I had an amazing time in Belgium. It was a great to hang out with people I don't really hang out with at school as well as have a chance to get to know them on a more one-on-one basis. Thanks so much for reading and a huge thanks to my friends for  making this one of the funnest trips and one of my best memories.

Until next time,
