November Favourites! | Miah Ke-leigh

Today I am doing a quick post about my November favourites! Man, I can't believe that tomorrow is December. This year has gone by so quickly - I know I say that every year. I feel like it gets more true every year though. Never the less, here are my November favourites from left to right.

1. 'Here' by Alessia Cara.
If you have never heard this song, you need to. It is so relatable, catchy and this girl is insanely talented.
Youtube it. Download it. Cherish it.

2. Pumpkins.
I guess I just got caught up in the whole fall atmosphere. Something about jack-o-lanterns, DIY decor and glitter pumpkins that always get me excited for the season.

3. Starbucks Lattes.
I still think they're overrated, but man, they're good.

4. Pumpkin Spice Latte Hand Sanitizer by Bath and Body Works
Bath and Body Works always speak to my soul, I swear. It always smells so wonderful, and it's such a lasting scent.

5. Pure Seduction body mist by Victoria's Secret.
Victoria's Secret body mists and lotions have been on sale here in Rotterdam, so I've been stocking up. This is such a lovely scent. It smell fruity, spicy and fresh. As always, the packaging is gorgeous.

5. 'Venise' by Chanel
No explanation necessary. I will, however, say that it is the perfect fall colour.

6. Louis Vuitton wallet
I'm not usually a fan of brands that put their names all over the products they create, [I'm looking at you, Marc Jacobs] but this Louis Vuitton wallet is an exception. I like the classic print all over it (surprisingly) as well as the contrast in the shades of brown.

8. F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'This Side of Paradise'
This was a gift from a very good friend of mine. I haven't finished it yet but I hope to soon. It's a gorgeous book and has a wonderful storyline. Plus, it was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, so that's always a reason to read something.

9. Wet n Wild's 'Walking on Eggshells' eyeshadow palette.
I have raved about this product countless times. It's gorgeous for on the go, every day and for that effortless look if you want to spend a few minutes getting ready but not do too much with your makeup.

10. Leaf garlands
Once again, it's just something about fall. Leaf garlands are literally all over the place. Entwined with fairy lights, in wreaths, strung around bulletin boards. Pinterest has given me so many ideas as what to do with them for the festive season.

That's all for today, folks!
Let me know what your favourite items for November were! Can't believe it's already December. Stay safe.

OGX Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

I am a huge fan of the OGX Shampoo and Conditioners. Not only do they smell divine, but they are so wonderful and come in a variety of different scents. I've tried out Coconut Milk, Acai Berry Avacado and Morrocan Argon Oil but Macadamia Oil is definitely a current favourite.

The packaging is sleek and minimalistic. For me, it gives off a somewhat tropical/earthy vibe due to it only having three colours; brown, gold and green. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a gold cap. Each bottle contains 385ml of product and it's recyclable! The product only expired after 18 months and I can reassure you that it is something you will want to repurchase.

The scent smells absolutely heavenly. It's sweet, refreshing and makes my hair feel extra clean after I've washed it.

The formula is slightly thick and goopy. A little goes a long way with this product as it lathers your strands from roots to ends. This one is designed to lock moisture in and smooth dry hair, which is perfect if you're currently experiencing winter like I am. My favourite thing about this product is how shiny it makes your hair look after washing and even more so after styling.

The product claims to "smooth parched, dry hair while exotic sugar cane extract and bamboo extract soften and helps to reduce the appearance of split ends for a luscious, vibrant mane with brilliant shine."
My hair definitely needs extra moisture as it has a mind of its own and is at times extremely curly despite being naturally wavy.  It definitely makes my hair look shiny and feel a lot softer after application. I don't necessarily believe it reduces the appearance of split ends as I think that's something you can only reduce by getting a haircut, but it does help to give an extra boost of colour to your hair due to the glossy sheen it leaves behind.

I highly recommend these to any of you who haven't tried it. I purchased mine for €12 a bottle and I generally get them at Kruidvat or Albert Heijn but as far as I know you can get them at pretty much any drugstore worldwide. If you have tried this out before, let me know what you think in the comments and if you haven't, I'd love to hear your thoughts or questions!

Weekend Shenanigans | Maastricht

My boyfriend and I went to Maastricht this weekend. We took the train from Station Alexander to Rotterdam Centraal and then all the way to Maastricht Centraal which is 197 kilometers away.

 Station Alexander

Maastricht is a gorgeous town located in Limburg. It was super rainy when we visited and only 5 degrees celsius, but what else is new in Holland? The train journey felt pretty long. It was filled with locals and tourists alike. It's always weird for me to hear people speak English here in Europe, but only because I am constantly used to hearing mostly French and Dutch.

After we arrived at Maastricht Centraal, we pretty much wandered around for most of the day. It varied between rain and sunshine, but it was a wonderful day all the same. We explored many streets and stores in Maastricht, many of which were in the center of the city and close to the shopping mall while others were a bit more on the outskirts of the centrum.

Maastricht Central Station
What I loved the most is that the city was already decorated for Christmas. Gold sparkly globes with lights woven  through them hung from the green Christmas garlands, all which were attached to the tall buildings.

I noticed that in Maastricht, the roads are mostly cobblestone. Many of the buildings were either that old red-brick style or painted over in different shades of white, brown and peach. They had gorgeous decorations such as pot plants or pretty signs outside of stores and in the middle of the shopping streets.

Something else that I observed was that everyone was constantly in a rush to go somewhere. Perhaps it was because it was raining, but the weather is like this pretty much all the time, so I didn't think it could really be the reason. No one really walked to take their time. Many walked with a purpose as if they had a specific place in their mind's eye that they had to get to.

Philippe and I were the opposite. We walked super slowly (partly because we had some trouble with our umbrella and partly because I'm short af so I couldn't really walk much faster) We then went inside De Bijenkorf, which is essentially a shopping mall filled with different stores that are mostly high end. If you're reading this and you're from South Africa, think V&A waterfront in Cape Town or just Cavendish Square. It's a little bit similar to that.

 Houses & boutiques in Maastricht

Aside from that, we just got coffee and continued exploring the city. It was a truly beautiful day and we had a lot of fun despite the gloomy weather. I hope you liked this little blog post about Maastricht. It truly is a gorgeous city. I imagine it to be much better looking in Summer or Spring, although even in Autumn it is still a stunner.
Next weekend we'll be going to Amsterdam to meet up with one of my old friends, Kelsey, from Cape Town. She's currently traveling all over Europe at the moment, so stay tuned for another mini-travel post!

Affordable Beauty Products

Hello everyone! If you follow me on Snapchat (mkm_5797) or if you've liked my Facebook page (Miah Ke-leigh) You would know that it has been super requested for me to do a blog post about inexpensive products for every day use! Even better, I've decided to make this a three-part "series". The first, (today's post) will be all about makeup but I will also be talking and doing mini-reviews about hair and nail products!

Face Products
Brands: Catrice

Catrice Transluscent Powder
: While I don't buy inexpensive foundation/powders [simply because I prefer higher-end  makeup products for my skin as I feel the quality and overall look is better], I do own this translucent face powder from Catrice.  A transluscent powder is a face powder that helps to set your makeup. This product is mattifying and waterproof, making it ideal for everyday wear.  Not only does it prevent you from looking oily, it makes sure your makeup stays on all day long. As you can see, I've already hit pan on it because I love this product!

Catrice Blush in '060 Rosewood Forest: If you've read my August favourites, you'd know that I am obsessed with this gorgeous dark pink blush, also from Catrice. It is perfect for just a little pop of colour. Not only is it super pigmented, it's incredibly long-lasting too. Best part? It suits all skin tones.

Eye Products: Eyeshadows
Brands: Wet n Wild & Accessorize

Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Trio in 'Silent Treatment' :  I adore this eyeshadow palette. It's perfect for a more edgy every-day look as the shades are diverse. What I like about this palette is how pigmented the shadows are, as well as how they give suggestions as to where you should apply the product. Keep in mind where they suggest isn't necessarily where you have to apply it. For example, the brow-bone colour looks gorgeous in the inner corners and the crease colour looks beautiful as a smokey all over lid shade!

Accessorize Eyeshadow Palette in 'Lovely Day' :

My favourite thing about this palette is that it has 32 different colours and some of them come in matte shades with a glitter equivalent. The colours are so incredibly pigmented and have a range of cool and warm tones. If you're looking for a gorgeous yet inexpensive palette, I would definitely recommend this one as it has everything a high-end palette does and more for half the price.

Eye Products: Lashes & Eyebrows
Brands: Essence, Rimmel London and Wet n Wild

Essence Frame 4 Fame False Eyelashes in '05 Natural Effect Lashes': Although I'm not a huge fan of false lashes, these (or any lashes from Red Cherry) are perfect for an extra wow-factor to your makeup. As we all know, false lashes can make your eye makeup look so much better - when applied correctly. These lashes are incredibly natural looking and just a little bit longer than my natural lashes. They're in black and have a clear lash band which is perfect because some false lashes come with a thick lash band that makes it super obvious that you're wearing it. Not only does this make liquid eyeliner application look a lot neater as you sort of have a guide, it makes your eye makeup in general look really good.

Essence Frame 4 Fame Lash Glue: This lash glue is white in the tube but dries clear which is excellent. I love that it doesn't leave a sticky residue after you remove your lashes. When applying false lashes, keep in mind that smallest amount goes a very long way.

Rimmel London Mascara

Rimmel London Mascara by Kate Moss in '004 Jet Black' This is by far my favourite drugstore mascara! It gives my lashes so much volume and makes them look a lot longer. Two coats and you're good to go. Using this with false lashes gives your eyes extra definition, although this product does a pretty good job all on its own.

Wet n Wild Eyebrow Kit:
As you can tell by the picture, this is definitely a firm favourite in my makeup collection. This is the first brow powder I've hit pan on, which is saying a lot. Not only does the kit come with two different shades and a wax to set the product, the container also has a built in mirror for on the go application! The brush has angled bristles which are absolutely perfect for short, feathery strokes to fill in sparse areas.

Lip Products: Balms/Chapstick

Brands: EOS, Jelly Belly, Zambuk

Jelly Belly Lipbalms in 'Bubblegum' and 'Tutti Frutti':

I love these little lipbalms. They're great  for traveling, excellent for on-the-
go and smell good enough to eat! They are both clear super moisturizing.

             EOS Lipbalm in 'Honeydew' :

I continuously repurchase this product because it's my favourite EOS lipbalm ever. It's hydrating, smells so good and after you're done with it, the tube is easy to refill with a DIY recipe. To view that, click here

Zambuk Cherry Lip Balm :

This is easily my favourite South African beauty product.  It smells great, is super hydrating and it is ideal for the colder months. Not only does this product repair chapped lips, make your lips feel soft and the smallest amount goes a long way. Once applied, the product makes your lips feel slightly tingly and also contains SPF.  My only problem with the product is the tin, because sometimes it can be very difficult to open.

Lip Products: Lipsticks & Lipliner
Brands: Revlon, Essence

Revlon Lip Butter in 'Brown Sugar' :

I love the name of this product! After hearing one of my favourite Youtubers (Ingrid Nilsen) gushing about how amazing these lip butters are, I had to check it out myself. This one is in 'Brown Sugar' which is a warm, deep brown colour. The texture is creamy and soft. Once applied, it has a slightly glossy finish.

Essence Lipliner in 'Femme Fatale'

Again, I heard about this product from Youtuber Kathleen Lights. This lipliner is so pigmented and looks perfect once paired with 'Adorable Matt' as it creates a very matte, clean finish.  Of course, using a lipliner enhances your lips and makes them look plumper, so if you prefer that effect, using the lipliner on its own definitely does that! Remember that dark colours make objects look smaller, while light/bright colours make them appear bigger. The same rule applies to makeup!

Lip Products:
Lipgloss and Liquid Lipstick/LipStain
Brands: Essence and NYC (New York Colour)

Essence Lipgloss in '06 Soft Almond' :

Not only does this lipgloss last all day long, it is also the perfect nude lipgloss for every skin tone. It has a rich, creamy texture that isn't sticky. The finish is, of course, very glossy, and I'd pair this with Revlon's Lip Butter in 'Brown Sugar'.

NYC Liquid LipStain in 'On Everybody's Lips' :

It's currently Autumn here in Holland and this liquid lipstick is my go-to lip product at the moment. For those of you who are unsure of what a liquid lipstick is, basically, it comes in lipgloss form and has the same texture of a lipgloss, but once applied, it dries like a lipstick. Although liquid lipsticks can be glossy, they can also be super matte, like this one.

That's all for today's post, thank you so much for reading!
 Until next time!
