Juicing for Energy Before a Workout | Guest Post

Some people believe that if they want to get the most out of their weight loss or muscle-building session, they should avoid eating before they hit the gym. This belief stems from an understanding that the body will tap into the existing fat reserves that are present within your system if you don't provide it with fuel that it can burn through first. Though It's certainly true that some people can burn through calories faster when they enjoy a "fasted" workout, it's important to remember that most of the time your body will need some manner of fuel if you want to have enough energy for your workout in the first place. Remember that sometimes, exercising on an empty stomach can break down muscle tissue. Any weight-loss solution should always focus on burning fat and maintaining muscle, as muscle is what helps to boost your metabolism in the first place.

Fortunately, there may be a solution that allows you to get the best of both sides. Juicing and blending the correct produce and foods can be a great way to give your body the right minerals that it needs for a more effective workout. There are plenty of different types of foods that can be blended or juiced, including foods with complex carbohydrates that work to provide the base of your energy-producing fuel.
Here are some recipes to try when juicing for energy before a workout.
The Peach Cobbler Blend

If you're looking for a powerful pre-workout drink that just happens to be delicious too, then this could be the perfect solution for your pre-workout needs. The healthy dose of peaches will add sweetness to your juice, while you add oatmeal after the juicing session to ensure that it's nice and filling too. You're going to need some vanilla flavored whey protein powder for this recipe, along with plenty of sliced peaches too. Ingredients include:

  • 1 Scoop of vanilla whey protein
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 can of sliced peaches
  • 1 packet of instant oatmeal (blend in after juicing)

Simple Coconut Juice

With regular workouts and a busy lifestyle to contend with, the chances are that you don't have much time to spend in the kitchen each morning. Fortunately, this simple recipe makes the process of getting vitamins and nutrients into your system easier than ever. All you need is spirulina powder and coconut water. While coconut water is brimming with potassium to help you avoid cramps during your workout, spirulina is rich in protein, potassium, amino acids, B vitamins, and more.

You will need:
  • Coconut water
  • Half a teaspoon of spirulina powder

Apple, Beet, Carrot and Ginger

Most experts know that beetroot juice is a fantastic source of nitrate, which is excellent for widening the blood vessels and lower your blood pressure for greater blood flow. The more your blood is free to circulate around your body, the less chance you have of suffering from cramps, inflammation and discomfort both during and after your workout. This simple yet effective juice will help you to get the most of the various benefits of carrot, apples, and beets, along with a dose of spice from ginger too!

You will need:
  • 1 Tablespoon of freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 inches of fresh ginger
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 red apple
  • 2 large carrots
  • 3 beets

Green Workout Juice

Finally, if you're looking for a green juice to help you jump into the detoxing juice trend, this delicious blend will help you not only enjoy a more active and engaging workout, but it will also serve to detox your system so that you're less likely to suffer from illness and chronic pain that might prevent you from hitting the gym as regularly as you might like to. Today, plenty of people are turning to green juices to help them get the most vitamins and minerals possible without the fiber that comes in smoothies.

You will need:
  • 1 inch of ginger
  • 2 cups of baby spinach
  • 2 cups of romaine lettuce
  • 1 half a lemon
  • 2 ribs of celery
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 pear

Find your Ideal Juice

Remember that there are a range of different juicing solutions out there for pre-workout energy purposes, finding the right one for you is likely to be an experience that involves testing new ingredients and blends on a regular basis.
