CariPro™ Toothbrush: Review & GIVEAWAY ♡

When I was little, my teeth were one of my absolute biggest insecurities. It was only after I got braces that I really started learning about everything that truly goes into oral hygiene. From learning about which foods stained my teeth to adjusting my toothbrush at just the right angle to make sure my mouth was really as clean as it felt, I became obsessed with dental hygiene. Most people dread a trip to the dentist, but personally I never truly minded it. Of course, I was brushing my teeth daily, experimenting with various mouthwashes and trying out different toothbrushes.

Dentists had always recommended electric toothbrushes to me and I've never owned one. Instead, I opted to brush manually and later moved on to a bamboo toothbrush because I was leaning towards living a more sustainable lifestyle. Recently, my bamboo toothbrush was getting a little too old to use and coincidentally, the lovely team at Smile Brilliant gifted me with a CariPro electric toothbrush. I had never used an electric toothbrush before and when I received the box, I was super happy with it.

The box contained:
  • A waterproof *CariPro Toothbrush which contains five brush settings, a timer and wireless charging dock
  • 2 brush heads with a tongue scraper
  • 2-year warranty and an instruction manual
  • 1 wireless induction charging dock

The CariPro has five different brush settings; gum care, sensitive, massage, clean and white. The toothbrush has a soft touch grip and is waterproof. I love that the charging dock it comes with is wireless and that the toothbrush will stay fully charged for up to an entire month.  As for the settings, I like using the gum care settings as I don't floss nearly as much as I should and the cleaning setting also makes my mouth feel super fresh!

Now, if we compare the CariPro to bamboo toothbrushes I've tried in the past, there's a lot to unpack. The CariPro is waterproof while bamboo brushes easily splinter if not taken care of. Of course, bamboo toothbrushes are manual while CariPro is electric - this is neither a pro nor a con for me, but in terms of hygiene, most electronic toothbrushes tend to be better since they also remove stains and clean more efficiently.

Dentists also recommend that both toothbrushes need to be replaced every three to four months. This is the only real question mark I have here, as bamboo toothbrushes are mostly compostable (the bristles and the metal fillings which keep the bristles of the brush go straight into landfill).

The CariPro, on the other hand, replaces the head while the remainder of the toothbrush needs to be recharged. It's not a hit or a miss for me, but in terms of an eco-friendly lifestyle which I often aim to endorse, there are some things to consider. Most electronic toothbrushes can be recycled (minus the head), while bamboo toothbrushes are of course compostable. Circling back to sustainability, I would opt for a bamboo toothbrush as it is slightly better for the planet. However, in terms of dental hygiene, the CariPro wins hands down.
